Psalm 66:19 (NIV)

19 but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer

Context

This verse is a testimony of answered prayer. The psalmist has just acknowledged that cherishing sin in one’s heart hinders our relationship with God (verse 18), but now he proclaims with confidence that God has listened—because the path between them is clear. The second half of the psalm is deeply personal, moving from worship on a national level to personal praise for God’s faithfulness.

Theme

God listens to the sincere prayers of the righteous.

Author

Unknown (not explicitly stated, but likely one of Israel’s worship leaders)

Key Word

“Heard my prayer” – A direct answer to the cry of someone who has come honestly and humbly before God.

Application

Have you ever wondered if God really hears you? This verse is a reassuring reminder: yes, He does. When we come to Him with an open, repentant heart, God is not silent or distant. He listens. Not just to your words—but to your heart. If you’re feeling ignored or spiritually dry, take this verse personally. Examine your heart, come to God sincerely, and rest in the promise that your voice matters to Him. You are heard.
