17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.
David is writing from personal experience, having been rescued from dangerous situations, including fleeing from Saul and escaping the Philistines. This psalm is a declaration of how the Lord hears and responds to those who trust in Him. Even in suffering and fear, David confidently affirms that the righteous are never truly alone—God is listening.
