Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Context

This verse follows one of the most well-known declarations about salvation by grace through faith—not by works (Ephesians 2:8–9). But verse 10 is just as important. After explaining that salvation is not earned, Paul makes it clear that God still designed us to live out good works as a response to His grace.

Theme

We are handcrafted by God to live with purpose and do good through Him.

Author

The apostle Paul, writing to the believers in Ephesus.

Key Word

“Handiwork” – You are God’s creation, intentionally made for His plan.

Application

You were created with intention. You are God’s masterpiece—His work of art. You weren’t just saved to sit still; you were saved to shine. God already prepared meaningful, beautiful things for you to do. You don’t need to be someone else—just walk in the path He laid out for you.
